Yay! I'm losing weight! That's good news. Maybe it means I'll finally be able to leave my basement blogging behind and be able to interact with the world like a normal human being. Ha! That'll be the day. The funny thing is that I've been keeping this blog for so long I've completely forgotten what it's like to interact with people normally, you know? Funny. Sorry I haven't updated in a while, but his visit was a little underwhelming, to be honest. Since he wasn't my biological father, I didn't have a whole lot invested in it - and it seemed like both my mom and dad were a little awkward about it. I guess that should be expected, but there just were a lot of lulls in conversation where they just didn't have much to say to each other. Weird huh? It was nice to find someone online and then be able to meet them in person, but I didn't have much connection with him. Maybe next time find relative? Anyway, I'm focusing on dieting so I can fit into my swimsuit this summer. Came across this article about lap bands and type 2 diabetes that I liked. Enjoy.

He's Coming!

Just a quick note to say that he's coming to visit next week! Pretty exciting stuff - and all thanks to person search! See, person search can bring families together! It's him! It's really truly him! My mom and he got back in touch and have been emailing and sending each other pictures and everything. How crazy is that? It seems pretty clear that he's not my biological father, because of course that had crossed everyone's minds. But still, it's kind of crazy and amazing that we actually got in touch with this man. Sounds like my father may even make amends with him. He's talking about coming to visit us from Britain. Not sure when but not too far from now. See how cool a person find can be? Go on, find people, you know you want to! Do a background check! Trace my ancestry!

I found him. Or I think I did. I'm not positive, considering his name is fairly common in Britain. But everyone I find, I sent them a cute little email asking if they lived in the United States and dated my mother back in the day. And someone responded, "Yes, who is this?" I'm bouncing off the walls. I mean, I love a good person search but I never figured it would actually work this time in a foreign country and all. See, there you go, it's easier to find person than you think. I won't get too excited he could be lying or confused or someone else entirely. (I responded three days ago, and he still hasn't got back to me. So in the meantime, I'll distract myself with rant farm - to the obviously too short for me bartender

No luck so far tracking down this mysterious British stranger. Don't get me wrong, a person search is fun, but it's also a lot tricky sometimes. But that won't stop me! I know lots of great sites to find people! I'll keep you posted, of course! Still, after the blowout during the holidays, it's made me reconsider this whole people searching thing. Tracking down old friends is fun but the repercussions are a lot more daunting than I ever imagined. Oh, I'm planning to lose weight! Wish my luck! I'm thinking about taking hoodia now.

Family Holiday

So I had this great idea that I was going to have both my mom and my dad together for Christmas...I don't know what I thought was going to happen. I mean, I'm too old to play my own version of The Parent Trap, but I did anyway--got them both together. Boy did that not go how I thought it would! I somehow thought that because they were high school sweethearts they would somehow be each other's long lost loves. But it turns out that my mom had cheated on my dad back then...that's why they broke up. There was this British exchange student, the person my mom actually thinks of as the love of her life, and she cheated on my dad with him. Then she found out she was pregnant, knew it was my dad's but couldn't tell him. She didn't tell the other guy either but let him go back to England (he'd asked her to go with him) alone. So she lost both men...because of me. Anyway, they had a big blow up about it at Christmas, but then talked it over and ended up friends, which was nice. But now I feel pretty bad. So I'm going to try to find that British guy for my mom. I found this cool find person site and this other great people search site. Wish me luck on my search! Maybe I'll end up with a step dad too...

Tis' the Season

Life couldn't be better, I have a Dad and just in time for all the family holidays! We just spent Thanksgiving together, it brings a tear to may eye just thinking about it. As I mentioned before my dad doesn't have a family of his own, so it was especially special for him. I am trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas that will let him know how special his is and how happy I have found him. I was thinking of making him an album with photos from my childhood. I think he would really appreciate that. I have a couple more people search links to share with you all this month, after all it is holiday season and I am in a gift giving mood:

DNA Rules!

The DNA test came back positive! He really is my real father. I just found out a couple hours and I called everyone I knew. We were both there when they told us. We were both crying and hugging each other. It was probably the single most emotional experience I have ever had. I can't believe that I have a DAD! This is insane! I am just reeling off this news. You know, the second I met him, I just had a feeling that he was it. I feel with family, you just know these things, kinda like when you meet the person you're going to marry, you just know right when you meet them. How could someone find me like that? I find people all the time, but none of them have been my Dad until now, which is just crazy. I feel like I have been searching forever now. You guys should go to People Search Digest, which was a big resource for me, because they have the latest news in people search, so you might find a new tool to find someone you are looking for. I have to meet up with my father, I'll be back soon!
